How do we get food to our supermarkets, in a Net Zero World? Even if rail is sustainable, and ships become cleaner (and that’s a different story altogether), we still need last mile shipping using trucks (we call them lorries in this part of the planet, and we cut their nose off to use our roads). They run on diesel, and there are millions of them around.
They need to be around, even if we move to a low / zero carbon world. I am a great fan of keeping things simple and use existing infrastructure as much as possible, to deliver a net zero solution. So I looked into the options:
