What is a Climate Job?
Climate jobs are those that deal with the environment and the climate. Green jobs are those that focus on clean energy and sustainability. Clean energy jobs are those that focus on renewable sources of energy.
Climate jobs, green jobs, and clean energy jobs all have a lot in common. They are all about preserving our planet for future generations. They also share the goal of reducing our carbon emissions to combat climate change, and create an equitable environment for all of us to thrive.
Your Job is a Climate Job
Climate change is a global issue that needs to be addressed and the only way to do it is by working together. This is why we need to save the planet by doing our best to reduce carbon emissions, conserve water, and protect the environment. We, at Helix, and our partners at Project Drawdown, believe that every job, is a climate job. You don’t need to be a climate expert, or a head of sustainability to get your company to take action. Just use these simple steps to get started.
Look around your company for areas that can be improved.
Find good examples of companies in your industry that are already taking action.
Share those examples with your team and get them involved.
Invite experts to speak at your company about climate change, sustainability, and the benefits of taking action.
Post about what you’ve done on social media for others to see.
Get other companies and groups that are interested in this issue involved.
Set goals for how much reduction you want to make each year.
Project Drawdown: What do they do? And Why are we Partnering with them?
Project Drawdown is a global initiative that identifies 100 of the most substantive solutions to global warming, organized into a hierarchy of initiatives by type and scale. At the top of the list, we found that if we deployed all 100 solutions, they could reduce CO2 emissions by a total of 36 gigatons per year. That is equivalent to what would be needed to essentially halt global warming within 30 years. Helix is partnering with Project Drawdown in order to assess climate solutions, and its fitment to a sound framework, in order to present a valid analysis to its subscribers. By looking at job descriptions through this lens, we are able to identify leadership roles (CXO/ founder/ co founder/ MD) that we will be publishing in this section of the Helix.
