Biomimicry is a practice that learns from and mimics the strategies found in nature to solve human design challenges in a regenerative way. The Biomimicry Institute (TBI) empowers people to create nature-inspired solutions for a healthy planet. The purpose of the Biomimicry Institute is to naturalise biomimicry in the culture by promoting the transfer of ideas, designs, and strategies from biology to sustainable systems design. The institute envisions a world in which people view nature not as a warehouse of goods but as a storehouse of knowledge and inspiration for regenerative solutions.
Building on a growing national and global recognition of the practice of biomimicry, and its potential for impact (particularly in response to climate change), as well as a strong organisational foundation and reputation, TBI is well-positioned to scale and grow its impact in this next chapter.
In 2023, TBI will welcome its next leader as part of a planned succession for current Executive Director, Beth Rattner, who has led the Institute for 11 years.
