I am a researcher and management consultant by profession, so I use systems thinking to derive a mental model and understand the complex subject of climate change and its linkages to global inequality. I will be sharing some of the links to papers that I have been reading and what I decipher from this.
Data is one intriguing area that has potential, to act as enormous leverage and transform several small problem solving forces, into a large effect. ESG data is a confusing subject and several entities are trying to get their head around the area. Here is an analysis of ESG data availability, and disclosure by entities.
Over the last few days, the IPCC published its Sixth Assessment report, and it is 1300+ pages long. I’ll gladly share my views on it, once I have a thorough read, but here’s a quick summary from Reuters. Commenting on the report, Greta Thunberg had a choice of words for global leaders. While I am not an activist myself, and personally do not support activism, as a means to policy change, it is important to note the views of the leading voices. In the same context, noting how the report could fan the flames of litigation, is another way to look at it. Another important facet to look into, is how the green investment market is shaping up. The report talks of five potential futures for the world, in its current form, and is worth noting that the report does not advocate a specific shared socioeconomic pathway.
I’ll share more insights on how the real economy is shaping up, in this path to decarbonisation. You can’t sit on the sidelines and watch, while the carpet under your feet is drifting towards the sea, can you?
